Deuteronomy 1:1-8
We started our church 25 years
ago and it's still going strong!
That means my wife and I have lived
in the same house for 25 years and
have been involved with the
same church for that same time!
For some, that is no big deal,
but for us, it is nearly five times
as long as any previous stay anywhere!
Deciding when, why, and where to
move is always a difficult task.
I am thankful I have been able to stay this long.
A friend in the ministry once told me
about his decision to leave a small church.
He agonized over it. He asked God,
“What will they do if I leave?”
He said he felt as if God asked back,
“What will they do if you don't?”
The real question about life is
whether you will move or stay at the
leadership of God. When it's
time to move on, you simply must!
The previous generation of Israelites
had refused to enter the Promise Land.
They were dead now and God said the
nation had stayed where they were long enough.
It was time to move on!
Where are you in your spiritual walk?
Are you on the move or not?
Could it be God is telling you
the same thing? You've been
where you are too long - move on!
Prayer: Heavenly Father, please make it clear
to us when we need to move on.
Whether that is in our ministry, our
witnessing, or our personal growth,
help us to know when and how to move.
P.S. Moving - physically or spiritually -
needs to be done at the Lord's direction.
That comes by living in a relationship
with Him. We waited for years for
good direction on buying church property,
wondering why it never seemed to come.
After 15 years, it did come, very clearly.
We moved on and there has been
no looking back! Praise the Lord!
